In these uncertain times, we think there are reasons to be optimistic.
Prior to all this, TGW Installations were going through a period of real growth, our client base was growing, our customer referrals where through the roof and the future looked fantastic, then BOOM, the virus that has changed all our lives hit us all like a proverbial missile and things haven’t quite been the same since. But over the last few days, there have been small but very real changes that make us feel optimistic. The government have brought in small subtle changes which mean we don’t feel it will be too long before we can resume work, and get back to a relative normal, although I think we all realise now, than the normal we once knew will not be around for a long time, and we must settle into what they are calling the ‘new normal’. Suppliers will reopen, work will begin filtering through, fit outs in Sheffield will start again, office fit out companies will get the go ahead to start projects previously on hold, commercial work will resume and Sheffield’s shopfitters will rise from their imposed isolation and gardening to commence the restart of our wonderful industry.
Now is the time to get your business in order, to come out of this in the best possible position your business can be. It is time to get your business systems in place, define your company and what it stands for, revise your goals and USP’s. When all this is over, why should people deal with you and not your competitors? Let’s not forget that while the economy has taken a hit, it isn’t completely none functional. Business is still being done in every corner of the UK. Now is not the time to down your tools to sit and wait this out, if anything it is the complete opposite.
The chancellor Rishi Sunak has introduced a number of measures to protect businesses and their employees, especially in the construction industry, while it isn’t easy, I do feel there has been a relative level of protection. You can be sure as sure can be that at the end of this the government will be investing heavily in new business, with the aim that – as always, it is entrepreneurial endeavor that will guide this country out of recession. There is speculation that the economy (GDP) could even rise 1.5-2.0% in the second part of 2020, which would be fantastic news both for our sector as well as the country as a whole.
We can’t change the fact that COVID-19 is here, but we should be optimistic that people will learn, adjust, create, innovate, and eventually solve this problem and create lasting solutions. At the same time maintaining our rational sense of optimism rooted in a proven history of human innovation, creativity, and hard work. Let’s keep washing our hands, take the time away as needed, and when the time is right, get back to work. Let’s make the final quarter of 2020 a roaring success to lead us into a thriving 2021.
Have a great week and stay safe.
